General Policies

Attendance: *Students are not to be at the studio for excessive time before or after class. Students should be dropped off and picked up no more than 15 minutes before their scheduled class or 15 minutes after their classes end. Any other circumstances must be communicated with the front office staff.

*Regular attendance is crucial to student progress and group choreography. Please make every effort to attend each class.

*If a student needs to be absent for any reason, we ask that a parent or guardian informs the office through a phone call, email or text. (605-415-1111 or frontdesk@barefootdancestudio.com)

*Make up classes are difficult to schedule during Recital season, please check with your instructor for any possible make-up opportunities.

*Please be on time to each class. The beginning of class is crucial for the students, as it includes the proper warm up for each particular dance style.

*Attendance is important. Each instructor reserves the right to handle tardiness and absences at their discretion.

*Once recital pieces are being taught and rehearsed, students will not be able to miss more than 3 times per class. More than 3 unexcused absences could result in removal from recital.

*All dancers cannot miss classes/rehearsals for any reason 3 weeks prior to the end-of-year recital or a performance.

Injury Policy: If a student is injured to the point that they cannot participate in class, parents must notify the Barefoot office staff or instructor prior to the beginning of class. It is still recommended that students observe class. Instructors reserve the right to assign note taking or an alternative class participation method.

*(The withdrawal policy does apply to both in-person and all other learning platforms.)

Students may make up missed classes until January 31st. Makeup classes will not be available February - May (unless approved by instructor), due to each class working on choreography in preparation for recital.

Withdrawal Policy: Because it means so much to us at Barefoot to maintain small class sizes, notification of withdrawal is extremely important. You must complete a drop form thirty-days prior to your upcoming tuition payment. You will be responsible for the next payment if you do not give a thirty-day written notice. Please be aware that no prorating or refunds will be issued due to withdrawing from classes. All automatic bank debiting or credit card charges will stop after the one-month written notice. To withdrawal, please fill out the form below.

Weather Policy: If Rapid City Public Schools are cancelled or let out early for weather, classes will not be held.  If any other weather circumstance should arise, Barefoot will do its best to notify all students of cancellations.  Saturday class cancellations will be posted by 9:00 am. Cancellations will be posted to the website barefootdancestudio.com and social media pages.

Performance Policies: A contract will be signed for performances when all dates and times are established.  It is extremely difficult to change choreography if a student withdrawals from a performance. Classes become a team when they prepare for performance so every child is crucial for a successful show.  No refunds will be given on performance deposits or costume fees if the child withdraws from performances after the contract is signed. If a student has returned a signed performance contract to participate in that years recital but withdrawals from class prior to recital, the student will still be responsible for any tuition fees to be incurred up through recital. Withdrawals due to special circumstances may be permitted at the discretion of Barefoot management.

Substitute Instructors: Barefoot reserves the right to provide a substitute teacher if the regularly scheduled teacher is ill or otherwise unable to teach. Barefoot reserves the right to combine classes or offer make-up classes when available. If the studio cannot arrange for a substitute or combine classes, any missed classes will be made up.

Cancellation Policy: If your instructor should be ill or have any other reason that she should not be able to attend class, phone calls will be given to each student and make-up classes will be arranged by the instructor. Barefoot Dance Studio reserves the right to cancel a class due to low attendance or inconsistent attendance, and refunds will be arranged in this case.
